Chamoli Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chandrashekhar Vashisht said, “Part of a glacier and a rock broke down from above Kuber Parvat. However, there is no report of any damage.”

According to the officials, the glacier burst occurred following a minor landslide on higher altitude of Kuber Mountain.

Earlier this year, on February 28, a massive avalanche occurred near Mana Camp along India-China (Tibet) border, trapping around 55 BRO workers. Prior to that, a disaster that struck in 2021 at Raini in Chamoli owing to the breakage of a glacier had killed 206 persons.
